Why buy colored sugar when you can make your own? Use it to add a decorative splash of color to cookies and cakes or make a festive cocktail with a colored sugar rim - like my Dark and Spooky Halloweentini!
Makes 1/3 cup orange sugar
4 drops gluten free red food
coloring**
2 drops gluten free yellow food
coloring**
Place sugar and food coloring in a jar. Put the lid on and shake it until the color spreads evenly throughout the sugar. Pour colored sugar into a zip-top bag. Close the bag and use your hand to massage any spots where the food coloring has collected.

Marie’s Tips:
*Use this as a base recipe to make any colored sugar (1/3 cup sugar to 6 drops food coloring). If the sugar becomes too moist, spread the sugar out in a thin layer on a baking sheet and let it sit for one hour to dry out.
