A Pub-blushing Experience

I'm so excited that you came back to hear my surprise!  So here it is: Three of my recipes are featured in the October 2013 issue of EMMA Magazine!  I am completely humbled by the honor. And I really want to thank Angela Sackett, my Kindred Spirit, for taking such beautiful pictures!

EMMA magazine is an online magazine that is a "How-To Guide for the Modern Domestic."  You can find everything from tasty recipes to adorable entertaining tips, and even fantastic DIY Ideas.  All with the concept of "if Martha were a 20-something."

Here's the link to the article.  I'd love for you to check it out!

I'd like to say the photo shoot was hard work, but it felt more like a girls afternoon.  Angela brought her sweet daughter Anna to help out.  We had music playing, snacked on an antipasto platter, and as you can see, there were plenty of laughs!

All the dishes I made for the photo shoot are from recipes that I use over and over again. For my dinner menu, I made my Citrus Chicken Pasta and my Flourless Chocolate Brownies.  When I add them to a menu of mine, I know without a doubt they will be great for anyone who's coming to dinner.  I've made them for so many occasions!  As soon as I stir in the citrus zest or once the chocolate starts to melt, wonderful memories come to mind.

My Citrus Chicken Pasta is really a full circle story for me.  The beginnings of this dish came out of a small apartment kitchen when Patrick and I first got married.  It was a time where we literally had nothing but hope and each other (and our dog Rosie).  And just like our marriage, the dish has only gotten better over the years.  I'm telling you, never underestimate the power of fresh rosemary and white wine when it comes to cooking or marriage.

And then of course, I had to have a sweet treat in my dinner menu.  My Flourless Chocolate Brownies sure did the trick.  If you are familiar with my blog, you know by now that I have used this recipe in every which way: brownies, cakes, and even a double layer chocolate cake for Patrick's Birthday Party.

I have served these brownies to house guests, to neighbors at a block party, and even to some very special family friends who came all the way from Cuba.  These brownies always make people smile- just like the way Angela and Anna did as they walked away from the photo shoot with a container full of them.

I'm so excited that these recipes were so beautifully featured because they're real.  These are real gluten free recipes for real life.  They don't just look pretty in pictures, they're darn good.  My hope is that you try one and serve it to someone you really love.  And that you do it all with the confidence that you can serve them to whoever, gluten free or otherwise.

Looking for more of a brunch menu?  You know I've got you covered.  Stay tuned for my next post where I show you two more recipes from our photo shoot: my Spinach and Feta Mini Quiches and my Strawberry Granola Parfait.
