Healthy Snack Block

Lauren Marie’s Gluten Free
You've heard of writer's block, right? Well,  I believe there is something called "Healthy Snack Block." Both are conditions dreaded by the common food blogger, like myself.  Coming up with healthy go-to snacks that are easy to make and not boring, can be hard sometimes.

But don't worry, if you think you have "Healthy Snack Block," there is a simple remedy: stock up on ideas and keep healthy snacks readily available at all times.

Remember... it's not IF you get hungry, its WHEN you get hungry...and you don't want to feel limited and without options when that time comes.

And this is not just for gluten free people or diet people, everyone has to eat.  And eating healthy snacks is a great way to keep your metabolism going throughout the day and your energy up.  Who wouldn't want that?

Plus, for me, if I don't eat when I am hungry... wooo... I can be a crab! Needless to say, my husband always makes sure I get food when the tummy rumbling starts.

I like to keep an ongoing healthy snack ideas list.  When I come across a good idea from a magazine or online, I just add it to the list.  That way, if I ever run out of snack ideas one week, I can just refer to the list.

And healthy snacks don't have to be complicated.  In fact, its usually the simplest ones that are the best.

Roast vegetables in the morning while you get ready and pack them for the afternoon (hello brussels sprouts!). Or if you're on the go, grab a fruit and nut bar.  Those are usually gluten free and they have a good amount of protein.  And of course, fruit makes a great grab and go healthy snack, bananas and apples are my faves.

One of my favorite ways to eat apples as a snack is as apple chips. I'm a sucker for crunchy snacks and these are crunchy and sweet.  They hardly take any attention, just time to bake slowly. I love to make these at night for a great, healthy snack the next day.

So, plan ahead and keep those snack ideas flowing, and you'll protect yourself against "Healthy Snack Block."

My apple chips are on my list, I hope you will add them to yours too!
